Brave mum and daughter are STILL living with man who scarred them in horrific acid attack for heartbreaking reason

A mum and daughter in India have the revealed the heartbreaking reason they are still living with the man who scarred them for a life in a horrifying  acid attack  . Inderjeet Mahour, 60, attacked his own wife Geeta Mahour, 40, and two daughters Neetu, then three, and 18-month-old Krishna, more than 25 years ago. He had allegedly threatened his spouse on previous occasions: "Don’t mess with me or I’ll ruin your face." Geeta suffered horrendous injuries, while Neetu, now 26, was left blind after acid was poured on them as they slept in Agra, in Uttar Pradesh, northern India. Krishna tragically died after contracting an infection following her hospital release. Although Geeta initially reported her husband to police, she ended up forgiving him after worrying about how she would raise her children alone. She says she was extremely poor, faced "a lot of pressure" from society and was even asked by "disgusted" neighbours to leave the area. ...

Here's what happens inside your body when you eat too much sugar

You might want to think twice before putting an extra spoonfull of sugar in your tea after watching this video. The  team at Tech Insider  sat down with a US expert to reveal exactly what the dangers of having too much sugar in your diet can be. As well as the obvious weight gain, too much of the sweet stuff also opens you up to a range of different diseases as your liver struggles to metabolise the fructose. We now have the data that shows that when the liver turns what it's being exposed to into liver fat, that is the signal driver of insulin resistance," said Robert Lustig, a Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of California, San Francisco. "Ultimately that's what drives this phenomenon called metabolic syndrome. "That is type II diabetes, hypertension, lipid problems, cardiovascular disease, cancer or dementia." Scientists have also found that men who consumed more than 67 grams of sugar per day increased their risk ...

Flip-flops can cause serious health problems and even alter the way you walk

The hard skin has been buffed off, the toenails trimmed - and maybe even treated to a lick of nail polish. After being in hibernation over the winter months, the UK has been tentatively getting its feet out over  the summer  , often in flip-flops. Flip-flops are easy and comfortable to wear but there's concern about us putting our health at risk by wearing them. The main issue seems to be the lack of support flip-flops provide. Specifically, there's no support for the arches and heels. We also have a habit of tensing our toes when we wear them to keep them Dr Camilla Long works at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina, shared some of the issues patients come to her with as a result of wearing flip-flops to  Mail Online These are shin splints, Achilles tendon issues and pain in the back. Wearing flip-flops can also cause us to alter how we walk, which in turn leads to more back pain.

Why you should never let your dog lick your face - as it could be life-threatening

As a nation of animal lovers, we happily lavish affection on our furry friends. Dogs also love to show us affection - and will sometimes give us a lick, whether or not we like it. But if you thought the worst part was a gust of dog breath to the face, then you'd be very wrong. Letting your dog lick your face can potentially kill you. Author and dog expert Marty Becker told  Doggies Care  : "All you have to do is look, watch, smell and you'll realise that is not true. "They raid the garbage can. You know, we give each other a peck on the cheek when we say hello, they give each other a peck on the rear end." Dogs love to show affection - but it's not always a good idea to encourage it John Oxford, professor of virology and bacteriology at the Queen Mary University in London, painted a grim but effective picture of the bacteria present in your dog's mouth and muzzle. "It is not just what is carried in saliva. Dogs spend half their...

Everton to hurry Giroud on future

Ronald Koeman will this week step up his interest in  Olivier Giroud . The  Arsenal  striker is the number one target on the Dutchman’s hit-list as  Everton  look to add the final pieces of their summer transfer jigsaw. The France international wants to see where he stands at the Emirates before deciding on his next port of call. But Koeman is in the market for a targetman – and Giroud is the one at the top of his list – and he needs an answer as to whether the Gunners frontman will join in a £25million deal.

Mourinho insists Fellaini will not be leaving United for Galatasaray

Jose Mourinho says   Marouane Fellaini   will not be leaving   Manchester United   this summer. The Belgian midfielder was strongly linked with a move to Galatasaray, with the Turkish side’s sporting director Cenk Ergun revealing he was in negotiations over a move. City stars openly discussing Sanchez transfer

Manchester City players have been openly discussing the potential arrival of  Alexis Sanchez this summer. City  boss  Pep Guardiola  remains in a battle to secure the wantaway  Arsenal  forward in a deal worth around £50million. There is an anticipation within the squad that the Chilean will head to the Etihad this summer, with some wondering where that leaves the current forwards,  report the Manchester Evening News. Guardiola is determined to add more firepower to his attack and has pursued Sanchez and Kylian Mbappe throughout this transfer window. Mbappe’s £100m-plus price tag and Real Madrid’s interest in him has always made Sanchez the more attainable target in the eyes of City’s hierarchy - even if they have steadfastly refused to drop out of the race for Monaco’s teenage sensation. Arsenal are adamant they will not sell their leading scorer, despite his refusal to sign an extension to his contract.

President Buhari Was On Life Support - Fayose Insists

Following backlash from Nigerians after photos of President Buhari in a meeting with PDP governors surfaced online, Governor Fayose has finally spoken. Recall, the Ekiti state governor in a statement released in June on Buhari’s health had claimed the president was on life support and his health had deteriorated. He also threatened to release photos of Buhari in the UK. Meanwhile after some PDP governors were delegated to see the president in London and the pictures went viral, Fayose was dragged on twitter. However, in a more recent interview, Governor Fayose maintained his initial claim, adding that Buhari had been on life support at some point. He said: “What I said about the president is very clear. I said that the President at a point before these recent visits was incapacitated and has been on a life support. I stand by it. I stand by it. Signal may be from first 'exomoon'

A team of astronomers has potentially discovered the first known moon beyond the Solar System. If confirmed, the "exomoon" is likely to be about the size and mass of Neptune, and circles a planet the size of Jupiter but with 10 times the mass. The signal was detected by Nasa's Kepler Space Telescope; astronomers now plan to carry out follow-up observations with Hubble in October. A paper about the candidate moon is  published on the Arxiv pre-print site . To date, astronomers have discovered more than 3,000 exoplanets - worlds orbiting stars other than the Sun. A hunt for exomoons - objects in orbit around those distant planets - has proceeded in parallel. But so far, these extrasolar satellites have lingered at the limits of detection with current techniques. Dr David Kipping, assistant professor of astronomy at Columbia University in New York, says he has spent "most of his adult life" looking for exomoons. For the time being, however, he urge...

Russia orders US to cut embassy staff in retaliation for sanctions

Russia has retaliated to new US sanctions by telling Washington to cut its diplomatic staff to 455 and barring the use of some properties. The new US embassy staffing level would be the same as at Russia's embassy in Washington. The Russian foreign ministry also said it was seizing holiday properties and a warehouse used by US diplomats. The new US sanctions are over Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea and alleged interference in the US election. They come months after the Obama administration ordered the seizure of two Russian diplomatic compounds and expelled 35 Russian diplomats in response to alleged hacking of the US Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton's campaign. In a statement on Friday, Russia's foreign ministry said: "The US is stubbornly taking one crudely anti-Russian step after another, using the utterly fictitious pretext of Russian interference in its internal affairs." The Trump-Russia saga in 200 words Russia: The 'cl...
